Dr. Milena Capiglioni

Hi, my name is Milena Capiglioni and I’m a postdoc researcher at both the QIS lab and the Support center for advance neuroimaging (SCAN) lab.

I studied physics and completed my master’s and PhD theses in the field of MR physics. During my master’s I focused on diffusion microstructure imaging, using analytical simulations and experimental work on a 9.4 T pre-clinical scanner. For my PhD, I explored Spin-Lock fMRI, a new technique for detection of oscillatory magnetic fields that has potential to detect neuronal activity in epilepsy. This work combined numerical modeling, phantom design, and clinical data analysis. Beyond my main research, I’ve contributed to projects involving brain morphometry, MR spectroscopy, and aging. 

My current project at the QIS Lab involves the development and optimization of a T1rho sequence for liver fibrosis quantification. I find MR physics fascinating and look forward to the challenge of translating this relaxometry technique into clinical use.
