Alexandra Van Dongen

Hi, I am Alexandra van Dongen and I am an affiliated PhD student at the QIS lab. I am primarily based in the department of Neurology at the Inselspital, and the NMR lab of the Institute of Myology.

I completed my previous studies at the Delft University of Technology, being the bachelor Nanobiology and the master Biomedical Engineering. During my master thesis, I investigated whether we could detect microstructures below the resolution limit of MRI using a spin-lock pulse sequence. The technique relied on the susceptibility difference between microstructures and their surroundings, and the diffusion of hydrogen spins through these field inhomogeneities.

During my PhD I am developing a new high-resolution motion-resilient pulse sequence for imaging the peripheral nerves. An exciting new challenge!
