Yasaman Safarkhanlo
Yasaman graduated with a physics MSc with a minor in data science from the University of Zurich (UZH) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) in 2021. Her MSc thesis was on patient-specific quality assurance for a magnetic resonance-guided linear accelerator (MR-LINAC) at the medical physics group in the radiation oncology department of the University Hospital Zurich (USZ).
She started at the cardiology department of Inselspital, University Hospital Bern, as a Ph.D. candidate in May 2021, under the supervision of Prof. Christoph Gräni and Prof. Jessica Bastiaansen, and became part of the QIS LAB. She is a part of Prediction of Reverse Remodeling and Outcome in Patients with Severe Secondary Mitral Valve Regurgitation Undergoing Transcatheter Edge-to-edge Mitral Valve Repair (PRE-MITRA) clinical trial, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), working on risk-stratifying patients based on Cardiovascular MRI (CMR) hemodynamics.
During her Ph.D., she is working on translating multiple CMR sequences, such as 4D-flow and DTI, into the everyday clinical routine and became a co-PI of a Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (CAIM) funded project, improving risk prediction in myocarditis using AI in cardiac MRI, with Dr. Gräni.
