Adèle Mackowiak

Adèle studied theoretical physics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL) and at King’s College London (KCL). She graduated from EPFL with a MSc degree in 2019.
She joined the CHUV-UNIL Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CVMR) laboratory in 2019, in the frame of her MSc thesis, to work on fat quantification with MRI. There, she developed an interest for quantitative imaging and decided to pursue a PhD on this topic. She started at CHUV-UNIL as a PhD candidate in November 2019, under the supervision of Prof. Jessica Bastiaansen, and naturally became part of the QIS LAB at its birth. She now shares her time between the CVMR in Lausanne and the QIS LAB in Bern.
Her thesis project focuses on developing methods for motion-resolved water-fat separated 3D MRI, from data acquired with either phase-cycled bSSFP or multi-echo GRE sequences. She currently works on the validation of a post-processing framework that produces robust quantitative maps of fat for cardiac and hepatic applications.
